Columbia/Lafayette County Conservation Districts Contest
Over 220 Arkansas students competed in the annual Judging Contest hosted by the Columbia and Lafayette County Conservation Districts held at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Twenty-two schools brought Agronomy, Electricity, Forestry, Floriculture, Land, and Nursery and Landscape teams. Engraved wood plaques from Story’s on the Square and insulated cups created by Courtney Riddle were presented to the highest scoring teams and individuals. After the contest, students, teachers, and volunteers were treated to lunch sponsored by Columbia County Farm Bureau and Farm Credit of Western Arkansas.
In the Agronomy Judging Contest, Genoa Central placed first with Tara Lawrence, also from Genoa Central, being the High Point Individual.
In the Electricity Judging Contest, Harmony Grove placed first with Hunter Martin from Bradley being the High Point Individual.
In the Floriculture Judging Contest, Emerson placed first with Brenna Leggett from Magnolia being the High Point Individual.
In the Forestry Judging Contest, Harmony Grove placed first with Gannon Bearden, also from Harmony Grove, being the High Point Individual.
In the Land Judging Contest, Ouachita placed first with Kaylie Stone from Gurdon being the High Point Individual.
In the Nursery and Landscape Judging Contest, Bradley placed first with Aubri Smith, also from Bradley, being the High Point Individual.
